The SuperMed PPO network is made up of hospitals, physicians and other healthcare providers throughout Ohio that pass Medical Mutual's strict credentialing process and have contractual agreements with us. Providers in the SuperMed Network agree to accept Medical Mutual's SuperMed fee schedule as payment in full, minus any applicable member deductible, copayment and /or coinsurance. Members who utilize SuperMed providers are not balanced billed and get the maximum amount of benefit coverage available under their plans.
Medical Mutual also has participating (PAR) contracts with additional Ohio providers outside of the SuperMed Network. These providers agree to accept our Traditional or UCR (usual, customary and reasonable) reimbursement as payment in full, less any applicable member deductible, copayment and /or coinsurance. However, members are subject to non-network coinsurance amounts if they utilize the services of non-network providers.
The SuperMed network includes a broad range of physicians in general practice, family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology. In addition, the Network includes specialists in cardiovascular services, neurosciences, neonatal care, radiology, cancer treatment, and others. Medical Mutual uses both NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance) and URAC/American Accreditation HealthCare Commission guidelines in the credentialing of Network Providers.
The SuperMed hospital network includes leading hospitals located throughout Ohio, including such renowned facilities as The Cleveland Clinic and The James Cancer Center at Ohio State University.
Other types of providers within the SuperMed network include ambulatory surgery centers, durable medical equipment suppliers, laboratories, home healthcare agencies, hospice agencies, skilled nursing facilities, orthotics and prosthetics suppliers, and home infusion therapy providers.
